Christmas is my favourite holiday. I can hardly wait until I can decorate my house, put up the tree and get into the spirit of Christmas. That includes reading Christmas stories to my little ones each night before bed. Here is a list of our favourites that also make great Christmas gifts
Bear Stays Up For Christmas
Our favourite holiday books are led by my absolute favourite, Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman, a gift from my Aunt. It reminds me so much of the 2013 John Lewis Christmas Advert which was beyond beautiful and for sure to put a tear in your eye.
The Nutcracker
Another book bought for my daughter from my Aunt is The Nutcracker from the story by E.T.A Hoffman, illustrated by Valeria Docampo. The year she got this book, she started ballet classes and I also took her the Nutcracker Ballet in Toronto. It definitely has some special memories tagged to it and its visually stunning.
The Twelve Days of Christmas
This one gets read year round… kind of like how Home Alone gets watched year round in our house. But really, it’s a song, and who doesn’t love songs. Illustrated by Emma Randall, every page is a feast for the eyes.
Merry Christmas Mom and Dad
Another Mercer Mayer favourite, Merry Christmas Mom and Dad is one I read over and over as a child. My kids love it too.
The Spirit of Christmas
Luckily Nancy Tillman made a Christmas book The Spirit of Christmas with the same eye leaking abilities as all her others. I love the message this one sends about the best part of Christmas
We hope you find one you like from this list and I encourage you to share your favourites so our book list can grow
